Mica & Mom

Mica and her mom are the definition of positive. These two ladies are so much fun! They are the kind of people that make me say “Is this really work?” They love to laugh and have fun. Their struggles in life are not the focus of their life, they are just a small part of it.

Ashley, Mica’s mom says that the two love to do crafts, watch movies, and play games together. She says that they are always on an adventure, every weekend, trying to find fun things to do locally! Mica is also involved in sled hockey, girl scouts, and loves to go to church!

Mica has a very rare syndrome called Sotos. This is a genetic condition characterized by distinct facial appearance and rapid growth. Mica is 7 years old, and is the size of a 14 year old. She will grow rapidly until she reaches her natural adult height.

Because of this rapid growth, she has a lot of other health issues such as anxiety, ADHD, scoliosis and has magic rods (which were surgically placed in her back to lengthen her spine). She also has skin sensitivity and allergies.

Nothing stops these two from having their adventures together! Because of Mica’s conditions she gets very tired very fast. So, when on one of their adventures she does have a special wheel chair she is able to sit in and rest, so that they don’t miss out on any fun!

Ashley says “I always try to have a positive outlook on life. Why not choose that when the other option is to be negative”. She says, “It’s easier to be happy! We just try to joke and have fun all the time.” When Mica is down, or doesn’t want to do something, Ashley encourages her to pick herself up and move on! She treats her like any other child, and she says it works. Mica is up and ready to go because of her mom’s encouragement and positive attitude.

Ashley also told me that she has an amazing support group from the hospital and other groups she is in who have children with disabilities. She said they have become like family.

Meeting these two lovely ladies was beyond a pleasure for me. Mica is so sweet, and must have given me 5 hugs during our session, which I LOVED! There should be more people in the world like them, and I was so lucky to have met them, and worked with them. I love this program and how it introduces me to such special families.

The sponsor family for this session requested to remain anonymous, but said that they were so very happy to have helped me give back this way, especially this time of year. I wanted to thank them for their order again, and for helping me give!

If you are interested in a Custom Family Session and want to learn more about my program and how you can become a sponsor family just by placing your order, please give me a call! If you would like to be considered as a receiving family for the Portraits with a Purpose program, I’d love to hear from you! 302-300-7569 or ana@photosbyexpressions.com
