Caring for Kristin

I recently photographed such a caring and loving family. They came out to the park to be photographed and we had a really pleasant time together. Toward the end of our session, they told me that this was the same park and very close to the same exact location that their journey began. It was the park that they were engaged in, years ago.

Now they have two children and still reside locally. Here is what they had to say about their family and what they love to do together, “Our favorite family activity is boating. Our daughter loves to do anything outdoors. She also enjoys going to the movies and shopping.”

“Our daughter was born with a gene mutation called EEFIA2. She was 8 before we received that diagnosis. Related to that, she has epilepsy, breathing and eating issues, along with mobility challenges.”

One of the reasons I love working with families who have children with severe challenges is because it shows me, and those who read about them here on my blog, that there is always a reason to smile. There is always a reason to get up, get going, go for a walk, do the things you love, and all with genuine smiles. This family was full of genuine smiles and happiness, and love for each other. Not to mention the gratitude and kindness they showed me.

They went on to say, “The hardest parts these days are needing wheelchair accessibility everywhere we go, and the unpredictability of her seizures.”

I had such a good afternoon photographing this family. It means so much to me to be able to do this for people who truly deserve something a little extra special. I’m glad I get to give in this way. They were so kind to say, “We haven’t had a family picture taken since the kids were small. Our son is 18 now and just graduated from high school so we are so grateful to have these beautiful pictures.”

I am grateful too, for having met such a great family, and for my amazing clients who make it possible for me to be able to give back in this way.

Thank you so much to my sponsor family who, just by placing a qualifying order, was able to sponsor this family and allow them to have portraits taken at no charge to them. The sponsor family are friends who had portraits with me last year, actually. With Covid and last year’s cold weather toward the end of the fall, we were unable to make this happen until now, but better late than never! So, a very special thank you to them.

We had a wonderful time during our session as well. The Tucker’s decided to have their portraits taken at a local winery because they were married in a similar location and wanted it to have the same feel as the day they were married. What a beautiful day it was last year at the winery! We had so much fun!

If you love the idea of being a sponsor for my Portraits with a Purpose sessions, let me know! I’d love to meet your family and be able to give back again and again. If you would like more information, please call Ana at 302-300-7569 or email ana@photosbyexpressions.com
